Marketing Intern Job Description
The Marketing Intern will report directly to the Managing Director and assist with marketing and public relations for Actor's Express theatre. The Marketing Intern is an integral part of a small team and, as such, their ideas and input are highly valued. This internship provides the intern with valuable, real-world experience as well as providing Actor's Express with additional staffing which is critical in the operation of a non-profit.
Interns will work at least 15 hours per week during the current quarter/semester, for a minimum of 150 hours. Those hours may be worked in any combination at the discretion of the intern and the Managing Director. Interns must be focused, organized, motivated and detail-oriented, and possess strong writing skills. Preference is given to applicants with experience working in non-profit or who intend to pursue a career in the arts.
Job duties may include:
Public Relations
- Assisting with the writing of press releases, newsletters, coupons, ads, etc.
- Creation of email newsletters and e-blasts in Constant Contact
- Archiving press mentions from various publications
- Developing plans to promote upcoming performance, films, and events
Social Networking
- Maintaining and developing content social networking sites including: Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter
- May include video-editing, blogging, and determining methods of creating special offers for one-time events
Group Sales
- Researching and compiling potential group sales leads
- Maintaining and organizing group sales database
- May include phone calls to groups, creating mailing packages, and developing offers to send via email
Documentation
- Organizing marketing archives, including photos, letters, printed materials
Promotions/Special Events
- Developing cross promotions with other organizations. This may include arranging special offers, on-site activities, or collateral exchanges, etc.
- Assisting with the creation of auxiliary audience events
Other duties of the marketing intern may include:
- Attending and assisting with set up and break down of events
- Distribution of AE brochures and materials to partners and potential audiences
- Compiling voucher tallies and survey results
- Internet research
- Mailing projects
- Other miscellaneous office tasks as assigned
