Internships
The internship program at Actor's Express is a yearlong program that
immerses emerging and early career artists in the day-to-day workings of a
professional theatre company. It is designed for individuals with some previous
training who wish to bridge the gap between the educational and professional
environments. The program has four primary goals:
- To deepen the artist through class work and performance
- To educate the businessperson through mentorships with
administrative staff
- To expand the knowledge of the professional with production skills
- To inspire the human being with the theatre's potential for impact
The workload is broad and demanding. Interns can expect an average time
commitment of 10-30 hours per week in the theatre, with the heaviest
commitment during preproduction of our five mainstage plays. A professional
life in the theatre, although rich and rewarding, demands strict discipline and
commitment. Membership in the Intern Company at Actor's Express allows a
first hand look at the theatre profession that will help to clarify the intern's
personal and artistic goals.
