William S. Murphey

William S. Murphey somehow finds himself in his fourth decade of shows at the Express, having first appeared in their inaugural season's acclaimed production of TRAPS in 1989. In the '90s was ZERO POSITIVE, and in the '00s came THE WOODEN BREEKS and THE LAST SUNDAY IN JUNE, directed by Freddie Ashley. He's acted with most theatres in town, including The Alliance Theatre, Georgia Ensemble, Seven Stages, Synchronicity, the Jewish Theatre of the South, Theatre Gael, and Theatre Emory. Recent work includes OUT TOWN, with True Colors Theatre, and ROMEO & JULIET and EDWARD III at the New American Shakespeare Tavern. Favorite productions include SLEUTH, in the Alliance Studio Theatre, FULLY COMMITTED at Theatre in the Square (Jennie Award winner
- Best Actor), DRIVING MISS DAISY and AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS (Suzi Bass Award winner - Best Featured Actor) at Theatrical Outfit, and the first three 'Tuna' plays - GREATER TUNA, A TUNA CHRISTMAS, and RED, WHITE & TUNA - also at Theatre in the Square. The fourth and final chapter, TUNA DOES VEGAS, hits the mainstage there in April. A lifelong Atlanta-area resident, Bill is thrilled to be able to live and work in his hometown, with the support of his family and friends. Bill is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association, and serves on the Atlanta-area AEA Liaison Committee. Thanks so much to Freddie, Kate, the supportive Board, the wonderful cast that I get to share the stage with every night, the interns for all their assistance (make sure you come to see the Intern performance of NEXT FALL - they'll be great!), and our audiences for their support of live theatre in general, and the Express in particular!
