Michael Monroe

MICHAEL MONROE has been a full-time voice teacher and musical director in Atlanta for over twenty years, and is thrilled to come out of his self-imposed retirement from the stage for this intriguing, remarkable opportunity. Michael was last involved at the Express as musical director for Steven Petty’s 1992 “MGM musical” version of The Harvey Milk Show. He’s also been privileged to music direct for The Atlanta Workshop Players, A.R.T Station (The Hoity Toity Mouse…), GA Shakespeare (The Tempest, Twelfth Night), Horizon (A… My Name is Still Alice, Cowgirls), and Theatre in the Square, where he did fifteen seasons of The 1940’s Radio Hour, as well as all of their productions of Smoke on the Mountain, The Sanders Family Christmas, and Mount Pleasant Homecoming, which proudly won four Suzi Awards, including Best Musical Direction, in 2007. Favorite roles include Billy in Chicago, Sky in Guys and Dolls, and Al in A Chorus Line. Michael is especially pleased to be reunited with Jill and Kathleen, and sends special thanks to Freddie for his guidance and trust, to his voice clients for their patience with scheduling, to his best buds Dan and Bill for all of their support, and to Ann-Carol Pence, who continues to be a recurring source of inspiration and influence in his career.
