Clay Causey
Clay sends many thanks to Freddie for asking him back to AE after an absence of 16 yrs.! He last played and conducted, under Chris Coleman, Wonderful Town and Once Upon a Mattress here and has gone on to be an award-winning Musical Dir. of many shows around Atlanta. After majoring in voice and piano at UGA, Clay spent 19 yrs. in NYC as a busy actor, singer, pianist, and MDir. (B'way: Snoopy and a Town Hall revival of Knickerbocker Holiday (Tenpin); Off B'way: Lane in Not In Ernest; Regional and Repetory: acted and played 100s of performances from Maine to Mexico and Alaska to the Carribean.) Clay returned to his hometown of Atlanta in 1990 and has loved M.Directing and playing over 30 memorable musicals all over town. Among his favorites: the local premiere and '08 revival of Urinetown, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Man of LaMancha (Onstage Atlanta), Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh and Funny Girl (JTS), I Love You,You're Perfect, Now Change (Horizon Theatre), Grand Hotel (Neighborhood Playhouse), and I Do, I Do (Aurora Theatre), among many others. He's played cabarets for The Lyric Theatre, Onstage Atlanta, and Actor's Express as well as many clubs in NYC and the northeast US. Clay has been teaching voice, coaching singers and accompanying since 1975 at Carnegie Hall, Turtle Bay Music School, Manhattan School of Music (NYC), 17 yrs. at Woodward Academy (Atl.) and continues in his home studio.
