Posted on July 28, 2015
The 2015-2016 season is shaping up to be our best yet, and we are excited to kick off Season 28 with Aaron Posner's Stupid F*cking Bird. This sort-of adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull had its world premiere at Woolly Mammoth in Washington, D.C. in 2013 and has been a hit around the country due to its blend of theatricality, humor and heart. Take a minute to meet our cast!
Lane Carlock (Emma) returns to AE after appearing in Six Degrees of Separation during the 2013-2014 season. Other recent acting credits include The Savannah Disputation and My Name is Asher Lev at Theatrical Outfit and Walter Cronkite is Dead at Aurora Theatre. Lane co-wrote the play Moxie (a 2014 Reiser Atlanta Artist’s Lab development grant recipient) which will have its world premiere with Theatrical Outfit in January 2016.
Evan Cleaver (Trig) makes his AE debut in Stupid F*cking Bird. He was most recently seen as Oscar in Grand Concourse at Horizon Theatre. Other roles include Raul in In Love and Warcraft at the Alliance Theatre and Macduff in Macbeth at Theater Emory.
Matt Felten (Dev) is also making his AE debut in our Season 28 opener. He was an Artistic Associate with the Atlanta Shakespeare Company for 12 years where some of his favorite roles were Hamlet, Romeo, Mercutio, Puck, Bottom, Caliban, and many others. He has also been seen on stage at Georgia Ensemble Theatre, Essential Theatre, Aurora Theatre, PushPush, and the Alliance Theatre.
Stephanie Friedman (Nina) is back on the AE stage after her powerful performance in The Whale. She has also appeared in AE's productions of Pluto (Suzi nomination) and Spring Awakening. Her works has been seen on other stages around town including the Alliance Theatre, Aris Theatre, Aurora Theatre, Georgia Shakespeare, Pinch n' Ouch, and Out of Hand.
Theo Harness (Sorn) returns to the AE stage. He was part of the original AE acting company. His first fling at the Express was as Lloyd Bophtalofti in Lucas’s Reckless, and his last was a dance of the seven veils as J. Edgar Hoover in The Love Song of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Between those brackets were some thirty roles and some twenty set designs before he stepped away to watch for a while. Welcome back, Theo!
Robert Lee Hindsman (Con) makes his AE debut in Stupid F*cking Bird. He recently finished the acting apprenticeship with Serenbe Playhouse where he performed in the 2014-2015 season and can be seen performing daily at the Georgia Aquarium.
Rhyn Saver (Mash) will make her Atlanta debut with this show. Off-Broadway credits include Sheldon Harnick's A World to Win (world premiere at The York Theater) and Big (The York Theater).
