Interview with Kathleen Wattis Kettrey
Posted on October 23, 2015
AE intern Elin Rose Hill interviews Kathleen Wattis Kettrey about The Thrush & the Woodpecker. Previews start tomorrow night!
You are an Actor's Express staple. We’ve seen you on stage at least half a dozen times. What was your first show here and what keeps you coming back to the Express?
My first show at AE was actually the first show at King Plow! I had a tiny part in Picnic and was absolutely thrilled.
AE keeps me coming back because, through all the years, it remains a wonderful place for actors to “workout”. I feel challenged and scared and pushed and safe, all at the same time.
If you were a bird what bird would you be?
Hmmm, I am probably a chirpy kind of bird who likes to dress up – I found a cardinal feather on the first day of rehearsal, so maybe that is bird I am.
Last show at AE?
Les Liaisons Dangereuses, which was my last show until now.
What’s next on your agenda?
I just recently got married so we are planning a trip to Europe over the Christmas holidays.
Favorite Yockey Play?
ALL Steve Yockey plays ROCK. Bliss, Bellwether, Octopus, Wolves, and of course, Pluto. I am deeply touched by his writing. Steve has a unique voice and stunning confidence. His plays are scary as hell to work on, but the reward is huge. Like, I just survived that!
