At Actor's Express, the "why" behind a show is just as important as the show itself. Artistic Director Freddie Ashley shares why this is the perfect moment for Head Over Heels to take the stage at AE.

"Our work [at Actor's Express] is always in conversation with the current moment, but the real question is how those intersections find themselves. I think it’s fair to say that the mood of the country is generally – how shall I put this delicately? –not great... So how do we push back against that? How about a healthy dose of radical inclusion and radical joy?

Think about being a trans or queer kid seeing the openhearted world of inclusion that is created in the show’s gleeful climax... And for everyone else, this spirit of inclusion is created with such earnestness that its charms are hard to resist.

What excites me about Head Over Heels is that it scratches some of the same itches as escapist entertainment, but it does so through a story that celebrates radical inclusion. So have fun. Celebrate the radically inclusive and joyful beat of Head Over Heels.
