Martin is a 50-year-old architect at the height of his career. He leads an ideal life with a lovely, bright and faithful wife, Stevie, and theiropenly gay teenage son, Billy. Then it happens: she finds out about the other lover-a goat named Sylvia.
Edward Albee describes The Goat in this way: "Every civilization sets quite arbitrary limits to its tolerances. The play is about a family that is deeply rocked by an unimaginable event and they solve that problem. It is my hope that people will think afresh about whether or not all the values they hold are valid."
The Goat or Who is Sylvia? won four major awards for best new play in 2002--- Tony, New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle.
